That sounds like a Sydney - Melbourne run, Peter. You must be a dedicated
gamer, I was only doing that run once a year for the Rownay festival.
If no one else wants the task (and we can`t just get the details from the
list membership), I`ll compile a list of players and locations, just a
couple of questions first though - why is RPGA membership required? Is
there someone on a RPGA mailing list that could ask for an expression of
interest in a Living Birthright? and to whom do I send the compiled list to?
As to applying a Cerilian location that matches ones country of origin, I
still don`t know it`s that important and I defy anyone to find a match for
Australia.
Culture matches: none/ all - outside of the occupants that were here when
Cook arrived Australia has had less than 250 years develop anything of its
own, and has adopted multiple cultures from all over the planed, with an
English/ American mix being the most predominant.
Climate matches: none / several. South of home (Victoria) we have Tassie,
about 1/3 the size of England and about the climate range of the British
Isles (yes, it rain a lot there too ;-) - Perhaps Norther Anuire / Souther
Rjuric, North for about 1,000k`s, it becomes sub-tropical and is coastal all
the way - perhaps Brechtur. Further North it`s tropical - perhaps like the
area in southern Vos / far Eastern Khinasi. North West 1,000k+ arid to
desert - Mid Khinasi Region, West - Southern Khinasi. Victoria (home),
inland NSW and surrounds is closest to Anuire.

Doyle

In Australia that would make you near-neighbours.
I used to travel 2,180 km every week for our Thursday night games (1090+
each way) -- of course I had to leave work a little earlier those days.

Holy crap, that`s like 50 miles each way, that`s amazing!
:)
But seriously, that`s like 10, 12 hours driving each way. Holy crap.
Unless you weren`t driving, trains are faster I guess. And I felt bad
that I couldn`t find a group in columbus until recently.

Leave about 3:15 pm
Taxi to airport: 15 mins from work
flight time 1 hr 5 mins
bus to station: 10 to 15 mins
train to Chris`s place - 1 hr 55min
either picked up at station or quick cab 5 mins tops
7:30 - 8:00 start (meal waiting when I arrive)
game til around 1:30
I should point out that the DM himself had a 2 and a half
hour travel. Four of the seven regulars lived within an hour
by train or car. (It`s only 2 hours for me now too.)

Oh, that's only about 2 to 3 car hours, not this far...
My complete location is Gießen, about 75 km [50 miles] north of Frankfurt (for someone, who might know it).

Wow, I thought, you travel by teleport... ;)
Fun to the side, isn't that expensive over the time?

That Helm of Teleportation was a crock! When I find that wizard that
sold it to me, I`ll be using his body parts for window decorations.
Worked one time only - he musta skimped on the permanency spell and just
gave it a few charges. -- never trust a wizard with one eye.
more than I could afford these days ;-} But not so bad if you can
combine business with pleasure. I had business in Sydney - so that part
of the trip I could claim for tax purposes.

I lived near Cochem which is between Trier and Koblenz. Used to go to the
Extra a lot and that club in Trier but I can`t remember the name. Anyway
just nice to see someone from the old Rheinland-Pflaz, my old home.

I lived in Bad Kreuznach Just south west of Wiesbaden-Mainz. Probably some of the best 3 years of my life I spent there. It must be a small world.

I was born in Wiesbaden. My father was in the U.S. army and was stationed in Germany 3 different times. The last time was in Boeblingen (spelling?) near Stutgart. I'd love to go back for a visit sometime, but that isn't going to happen for 10+ years. ;)

Actually I knew that onto meant into - I have been corrected by my
english teacher in school years ago because I made exactly that error in
a test.
However at least when translated into german I had to imagine your wife
sitting on top of the plane when I read onto :-)
Mmh, I hope you consider toothache as something positive you dearly
miss? ;-)

"Into" would be a better and more accurate rendering, but technically "on to" would be acceptable. The plane is not at ground level even when landed, you must climb up stairs or enter through a terminal to be "on" the same level...
You have to step "ONboard" the plane...

For accuracy`s sake wouldn`t one "step on a plane" in that a plane is a two
dimensional surface and "step onboard an airplane" when one is entering a
vehicle? So stepping "on" a "plane" is just a contracted version of
"onboard" an "airplane." (This thread gives one a glimpse of what
conversing in Old Entish must be like....)
Let`s do regardless/irregardless and flammable/inflammable now! ;)

More likely, it`s left over from ships, where you would step onto the ship
from the dock. Trains are the same, adapting many nautical terms.
