Why the zebec is more expensive than other ships ?
The roundship is for example more efficace in battle and in merchantile travel ... Do are a cultural reason ? ( in Khinasi's culture ship is more expensive ? )

I think that`s the intent. The roundship being primarily a Brecht vessel,

while the zebec is Khinasi, and the Brecht are described as a more seafaring

race. I think the idea, however, is more than the Brecht are able to build

ships more cheaply rather than to portray the Khinasi as being worse than

normal. Other races have ship costs that are more in line with them.

In 2E there were two reasons:

1) The Khinasi are mentioned that they build the Zhebec only for war and

not for trade (p. 7 The Seas of Cerilia), which would mean that it ought

to be the best warship around as other nations don´t build ships so

exclusively for war but as multipurposeships, also for trade.

2) The Zhebec is the fastest warship in 2E with a maneuverability class

of A which no other warship has (galleon or Roundship have B making them

slower)



Sadly the 2E combat system did not allow the Zhebec to actually make use

of "best warship around". Sure it can choose when to fight, as it can

in wind outrun every other ship. But using the 2E combat system it is

weaker in boarding actions than the Galleon (Zhebec 4 to Galleon 5) and

it´s missile rating is lower than the Roundships (3 to 4).



Now if the "facing" of the ship would matter as to where the ship can

actually fire it´s "missile rating" THEN the Zhebec could with it´s

superior speed choose where to strike and dance around the other slower

ships...
