Cerelian Dragons

Out of curiousity, does anyone know what the dragons were named? I know there is the Dragon of Vystave Peak, and likely a dragon in Drachensward. And if I recall, there was a dragon slain in a battle long ago. Gorgon supposedly drove a dragon out of Kal Saitharak.

There are only supposed to be a few dragons around. Anyone know what they are named?

Yeah, there's one mentioned in the Vosgaard expansion that controls some holdings.... is that the dragon of Vystave peak? And there's mention in the players secrets of Ilien of one that landed at Dragon Roost some 500 years ago. If memory serves me correctly that dragon crashed in the Erbannien or some place and was later discovered by the wizard regent in the area and became a source holding.... or did I just make that up?

Tarazin the Grey who removed his lair to the Drachenaurs "the eldest

dragon of Cerilia" according to Dragon Magazine 218

Raizhadik (that´s the one that the Gorgon defeated),

Weyrzak the thunderer (dead)

Zakhur (Dragon in the Five Peaks)

Daniel McSorley started a list years back, I added to it what I could

find. Dragon #218 is the source for most of these, unless another is listed.



Living (presumed to be six):

- Zakhur Lifesbane, aka the Guardian-- lives among the Five Peaks, which

are the transformed remains of his mother, Weyrzak.

- Tarazin the Gray-- believed to be sleeping in the Drachenaur Mountains,

not seen since 1522.

- Vore Lekinisky (Dragon #248, ToHW)-- sleeps under Vstaive Peak, in

Yeninskiy.

- Kappenkriaucheran (HotGB)-- believed to inhabit the Drachenaur range,

and may control sources near there.

* Four dragons are reputed to live in the Drachenaurs, or the Klessberg

Glacier (HotGB), this may include Tarazin and Kappenkriaucheran.



Honorable(?) mention:

- "Ohlaak the dragon" (PS/Stjordvik)-- holds sources in that land, may or

may not be a real dragon (IMC, this was a nom de guerre of a true wizard).

- Saeryk the Warlock (Warlock of the Stonecrowns)-- actually an awnshegh

who could take the form of a shadowy dragon.



Deceased:

- Nargest (Dragon #230)-- took up with Azrai, slain at Deismaar by

Weyrzak.

- Weyrzak the Thunderer (#230)-- Sided with the good guys before

Deismaar, slew Nargest before being mortally wounded in the divine explosion. She

died in the Five Peaks, near her hatchling son Zakhur. Nesirie transformed her

body into those mountains, and her spirit is still there.

- Azakadazar-- friend of the Khurin-Azur dwarves, Tarazin killed him at

Deismaar.

- Raizhadik-- killed by Raesene, who wanted his home for his own.

- Infyrna-- Attacked Tarazin the Gray over Merasaf and killed around 915

HC.

- Ukarzid (BoP)-- slain by a warrior with the aid of Haelyn`s Rampart in

a classic tale of Anuirean history.

- Komassa the Laughing Fiend (Warlock)-- the dracolich resident in the

Shadow World, bound to the Waiting Tree.

- Unnamed (PS/Tuarhievel)-- the late lore-keeper of Dhonneaghmiere, slain

by human adventurers circa 1525 HC

- Unnamed (TotHW)-- killed by the hero Orl, under the Orlenaskyy

Mountains.

- Illuyankas, namesake of the Rain Serpent Mountains. (PS/Khourane)--

early Masetian legends and petroglyphs describe him as an enormous feathered

serpent emanating light. His legends are also linked to those of the dhoumaire,

a race of tiny fey. It is also said that Cuiraecan killed him in one of his

first battles, with assistance of Laerme (story from this list).



I suggest the article "Dragon psychoses" in Dragon #313 for some

different spins on dragons. The "Nameless" persuasion seems to me to fit some of

Cerilia`s dragons-- ones who have deliberately wiped out evidence of their own

existence in exchange for the loss of all spellcasting abilities. At least, it

sounds good for the two others believed to be in the Drachenaurs, yet are not

named.

The novel/series "Dragonne`s Eg" by Mary Brown (IIRC) could also be a

good adventure seed-- finding a dragon`s egg after a long period of time (they

take centuries to hatch), and being quested to return it to the hiding place of

the dragons for the final hatching.

I`m noodling around with a long-term plan to drop just such a thing into

a party`s hands when they get to a pretty high level. Hints and nudges will

get them to a time and place when an egg hidden in a pocket of the Shadow World

is popped back into Cerilia. Then they get to figure out how/if/when/where

to return it to its parents or natural hatching ground.

Did he? In the "Timescale of Cerilia" in Dragon Magazine only the

"defeat" is mentioned, not the kill. While it could mean the same, it

need not. Is there another reference to that dragon?

Well, the one in the BRCS with all his stats and having him as a lieutenant to the Gorgon would point to him being alive...

You&#39;re right. I was confused with a reference in my own campaign where that dragon had been turned into a dracolich.
