I've recently joined your list and spent some time reading your archives.
My name is Kenneth Gauck. I am 30 yrs old and a 16 yr veteran of D&D. I
am writing my masters thesis in history having completed my coursework and
intend to pursue a Phd. My area of specialty is early modern government,
so Birthright seemed a natural to me. I have run a campaign based on
Baruk-Azhik for almost a year now.

Being a historian I tend to toward realism in play, mostly in the
socio-economic aspects. I offer my players a historical level of
complexity and difficulty as regents, which they seem to find challenging
and rewarding. I hope to contribute interesting things to the list, most
probably in the area of politics, religion, and innovative game mechanics.

Welcome aboard, Kenneth! As a historian, you'll probably note that I
borrowed a lot of the inspiration for Birthright from historical sources.
If you can find it, you might want to take a look at an old SPI game called
"Empires of the Middle Ages." We've played it around the TSR offices for
years, and it's always a painful and illuminating experience.
