Hello! I bought BR recently, after listening to chat topics on this mailing
list. I ran across a few questions:
1. On page 43-44 of the rulebook, it talks about law orders claiming money
from other holdings... Weeeell.... I wanted to ask if I get money from
temples normally, because why else would you contest them. Or does this mean
you own law holdings in other provinces and attempt to claim their profit?
2. What is starting regency?
3. What are DP?

Most fighter regents don't start owning temples, but do start with law
holdings. Owning law holdings allows you to claim part of the gold that
ANOTHER HOLDING EARNS due to laws and traditions of taxation, liscencing,
symbols of fealty, etc. Thus, while you would gain ALL of the gold that a
temple earned if you owned that holding yourself, the typical patterns is
that a priest regent holds the temple holdings in your provinces instead.
Thus you as the province owner get none of the the money that the temple
earns. Law holdings allow you to use your authority to gain a portion of
that money. If you have law holdings and temple holdings in the same
province, then you don't bother using law claims, because it's essentially
just taking money from one hand and giving it to the other (which is done
all the time today for bookkeeping purposes, but we don't bother with that
during feudal role-playing).

When you inherited your domain from its previous owner, it had a treasury.
A number of Gold Bar stored up for use later, in emergencies, etc. The
same goes for regency points. In Cerilia, regents are able to story up
this "Regency" in a "pool" to use later when they need it. The starting
regency is the regency pool you inherited from the previous owner. Some
domains in the Ruins of Empire book list the starting RP that a new PC
inherits this way, but many don't. I generally give starting PC's a number
of starting regency equal to about half of their domain power if the book
doesn't give a listing for them.

Well, you have me there. Can you give a me citation from one of the books?
I suppose that it could be a typo.

Others answered these pretty well.

I assume you are referring to Domain Power? That's basically the total
of all the holdings you get regency points from, according to table 14 on
page 41 of the Rulebook. So for a fighter, add up all the provinces and law
holdings he has, and that's domain power. For a priest, add up half the law
holdings total, plus all the provinces and temples levels he owns. Etc etc.
Note that for a law holding, it says Warriors get ful regency, that is,
fighters, and paladins and rangers.
