What were the 12 original duchies, and by extension the 12 original tribes
of the Andu? It has been on the list before, I just can't find my copy of
it.

I don't think there's a conclusive official answer, but based on several
references, IMO they are as follows:

Avanil
Boeruine
Diemed
Brosengae
Taeghas
Alamie
Aerenwe
Ghieste
Dhalaene
Mhoried
Osoerde
Cariele

Other realms (Elinie, Coeranys, Talinie, Dhoesone, Mieres) are either
colonies, borderlands, or hold lesser ranks than Duchy.

This is from memory so it may be a little off:

Avanil
Diemed
Aerenwe
Osorede
Coernays
Eliene
Two Realms where Ghoere is now, one of them religious
Mhoried
Alamie
Bouruine
Taeghas
Cariele

The realms of Brosengae, Taliene, Mieres, and Dhoesone were all colonies and
border nations, not full Duchies. As you can see above, I've got one extra. I
forget which one it is though.

Hmm, I recall something about Avanil being a principality not a duchy?
So maybe it doesn't count. Ghieste was one of the pre-Ghoere nations I
recall, not sure about the other.

Wasn't Aerenwe originally part of Diemed? IIRC, Diemed encompassed
the entire South Coast...

Ghieste and... Dhalarne, I think the other was called.

Coeranys is also a border nation. I think it's a kingdom.

No, Aerenwe was a Duchy. I think there is a map of the Empire in
front of either 'The Iron Throne' or 'War', where you can see the
Duchies and their borders, as well as the border nations.

Well, the only official one we know of is the 5th tribe: the Deretha.
The others we are just going to have to make up.

Cheers,
Darren

I read somewhere that the Boru (modern Boeruine) was also one of the tribes.
So now we have three known tribes: Boru, Mhora, and Deretha (likely modern
Diemed).

Well I was reading some BR product (BoP I think) and I found the old name of the Bouruine family, the Boru or something like that. Page 118-119 of the BoP under
Haelyn's Rampart. House Bouruine's pre-Diesmaar (and shortly post) was Boru.

Do you remember where you found that?!? I'm interested in the source
(because I'm working on the Pre-Deismaar portion of my campaign right
now, and could use all the official reference material I can get!) :D
