Just what are the overall consequences of invading your own provinces? I
know it says a -1 loyalty to the provinces in question every turn it remains
occupied. How long does a province remain occupied? Do you have to re invest
the province to get control or regain control of it? How do you unoccupy your
own provinces?

I use a similar method in my campaign, however, I do not allow high
law holdings to affect this change in loyalty. I believe that by
occupying your own provinces, you sort of negate the value of having
the law (remember, troops occupying a province act as the law for tax
purposes, so why not superceed it in all other instances?) This acts
as a little bit more of a deterrant to te PC's...it is much too easy
to eliminate the more "uncooperative" holdings within your own
provinces. You can occupy the province with one action, destroy the
holdings with the next then leave on the third...this would mean NO
loyalty loss, because the provinces were not held for the full
season. In my campaign, as soon as the land is occupied, the loyalty
dops one instantly (I mean, who really likes to be invaded,
regardless of who it is.)

What I use is that invading your own provinces is the same as declaring
martial law and sending the troops onto the street. Once there they can
destroy holding etc until no longer needed. As for the -1 loyalty rating, if
the ruler of the province has maximum law he can ignore 2 loyalty changes
every turn due to the high law.
To unoccupy your provinces you would send the troops back to their barracks or
move them out of the province.
