My bard was recently gathering intelligence in the taverns when he heard a new version of a familiar drinking song. The chorus was the same but rhymes had been added as new verses. The thing is that they seem to relate to a paladin of Avani he worked with and the paladin's slave. They had decided to (secretly) watch the temple of the Impregnable Heart of Haelyn in the City of Ilien by sitting in the middle of the road and drinking tea. Wisdom isn't exactly the paladin's strength. Anyway, some the locals twisted the story a little and this is the result. Each verse is limerick and every chorus is sung.
A Tin-hat of Tea,
a version of "Give Me a Drink", a popular tavern chant
A bold tin-hat of Avani
Announced ‘fore Haelyn’s chantry,
I will face one and all,
My shield shall not fall,
But for now, I want me some tea.
Oh, give me a drink, so I don’t have to think
About all my trouble and strife.
Swallowing it down, without ne’er a frown,
I’ll drink to the end of my life.
In a rush came forth his poor lackey,
In whose bag then he searched with glee
Calling, find my vambraces?
You must tighten my laces
But first, just make me some tea.
Oh, give me a drink, so I don’t have to think
About all his trouble and strife.
Swallowing it down, without ne’er a frown,
I’ll drink to the end of my life.
A Haelynite priest came to see
With golden plumes, one two and three
No threat will we fear,
What’s there in your gear?
I think we need have some tea.
Oh, give me a drink, so I don’t have to think
About all your trouble and strife.
Swallowing it down, without ne’er a frown,
I’ll drink to the end of my life.
The Avanite began to worry,
I cast no shade on you, said he.
With his bag and valet,
He then hasted away,
So no-one would have any tea
Oh, give me a drink, so I don’t have to think
About all my trouble and strife.
Swallowing it down, without ne’er a frown,
I’ll drink to the end of my life.
In response, a group of three people wearing bright red kettle helmets sang the following. My bard didn't know who they were, but someone thought they may be cultists or Devoteas.
Brew it
Dip that leaf, Save your mum some grief,
Fill up the flask, Stop the other task
When the Gorgon comes along (you must brew it)
‘fore the corpse starts to pong (you must brew it)
When something’s going wrong (you must brew it)
Now brew it, in the pot
Shake it up, don’t stop
Go forward, add the leaf
Try to strain it, it’s not too late
To brew it, brew it well
When Sera’s fortune turns around (you must brew it)
If you’re challenging the Crown (you must brew it)
You’ll never strike it down (unless you brew it)
I say brew it, brew it well
I say brew it, brew it well
Dip that leaf, Save your mum some grief,
Fill up the flask, Stop the other task
When the Gorgon comes along (you must brew it)
‘fore the corpse starts to pong (you must brew it)
When something’s going wrong (you must brew it)
Now brew it, in the pot
Shake it up, don’t stop
Go forward, add the leaf
Try to strain it, it’s not too late
To brew it, in the pot
Shake it up, don’t stop
Go forward, add the leaf
Try to strain it, it’s not too late
To brew it, well, brew it well
