I`m trying to upload a file to the download section, but I keep
getting an error message. Is 3.9MB too big for that section?

It`s a PDF but in a RAR pretty much like the other files I`ve
uploaded (unless I did something peculiar this time round, which is
always possible....) The only difference I can see at present is
that this file is larger. I`ll give it another try and put a couple
screenshots up to see if that can make any better sense of it. If it
doesn`t work I`ll try splitting it up into smaller RAR files and see
if that does it.

I thought it might be the length of the filename, but that wasn`t
it. I tried uploading the PDF file and it gave me the same
error. Unfortunately, the error isn`t much help: "The upload failed!
Upload error."
However, uploading the RAR in thirds worked, so the document is in
the Supplements section of the Downloads area. If someone could
download it and unRAR it just to make sure here aren`t any hitches,
I`d appreciate it.
At this point I think it has to be the size of the file that is the
problem. Maybe it has to do with the settings for my login ID? Is
there a maximum file size upload by account? It seems to me there
was at some point....
Though the files are up, I`m having trouble uploading an image to
serve as the download icon. After I browse to the location of the
JPG (32kb, jpeg format) and hit the "Add Image" button, the screen
goes white and then nothing. It`s not a big deal, but it would be
nice to have the covers and title page serve as icons for those three
files. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Gary

When I try to upload an image using Explorer (I normally use Firefox)
it reports an error message: HTTP 500 Internal Server Error.

hmm i see...
i guess its indeed time to go for the big upgrade.
I have been testing with the new vbulletin, the newest version of mediawiki,
and a new bridge between them.. and i am quite happy with the result so far.
it really looks nice. (and foremost its compatible with the latest PHP
versions.. the old scripts are just falling apart)
tomorrow i will test some more to see if i can get the portal page up and
running. If so, dont be surprised to see a new forum soon

It is odd. I didn`t have any problem uploading graphics last
time. What`s changed in the last 3 months that might result in that
error? It doesn`t seem like an upgrade issue....

yes, right before the move we had a server software upgrade with a new
version of PHP.
lots of PHP functions became deprecated or required code adjusts.
I think i had to edit like 40 or 50 file to make everything work again
without error.
So this is probably the cause of that as well

I couldn't download the files, I tried to extract them to my BR folder but it didn't seem able to find the file that I was clicking on to extract. Very odd.
The covers came off fine though.

I was able to download the 3 files and the moment all files are in the same folder, you can extract it as a single PDF.
I actually used Power Archiver and did not have any issues.

Ah, OK. That makes sense.
I see birthright.net is in the midst of a software upgrade. Thanks
for the above-and-beyond-diligence.
When things get back up again I`ll try uploading the file in a single
RAR (or just the PDF since compression doesn`t really save all that
much space...) so folks don`t have to bother with multiple files.

It is back up again, although i made one stupid mistake by unintalling
the download plugin, where it deleted the listing of all downloads we
had available (files are still there though) so give me a sec to
enter up the categories again.. then you are all set to go. try to
upload the pdf itself (not rarred)
