A character is a representation of an in-game persona. Characters controlled by a player are most often referred to as a player character and sometimes as avatar or PC. Characters controlled by the Dungeon Master are usually referred to as Non-player characters or NPCs.

Characteristics include: class, race, level, abilities, feats, skills and equipment.
