Vanishing web site?
Today BR.net showed back up again. - Yeah!!!
For the past week+ it has been unaccessable to me (and at least several others - see WotC boards)..
First off it seemed to be under maintenance with a Linux message, and then suddenly it was someone else's web site.
Arjan, Sindre - any idea/comments on what happened?
Also the mailserve is still not merged - just another in a long line of never ending projects for you webmasters.Duane Eggert

after a couple of day i got suspicious as well and contacted the server owner.
Again the server on which BRnet is hosted has been moved to a new location and new software has been installed.
ps duane) i did send you an email with why BRnet was down

It showed up last night some time. I too hit the Red hat test page and then the auction house. I found the thread on WotC site, but it didn't explain much at the time I read it.
So, any idea what happened? I've seen DNS delays when propagating a new domain name or when a domain is moved, and that's usually resolved within 24-48 hours. But I haven't seen a registered Domain accidentally taken over by another site.

It must have been a "conjunction"
So during the brief time that the auction house was transposed onto our material plane from the demiplane of dread, our BR.net must have appeared there as a pocket domain in its place.Regards,

Yes the problem with the Auction house showing up instead of BR.net was just me being late with updating the DNS records and helped by the problem that our primary DNS also moved at about the same time. It should be working now and I've made sure we got DNS servers that wont move at least now.

An improvement...
I for one welcome this new change, as I can again access the site quickly. It used to take me several minutes just to load a page or sign in. Now I can start participating again.
