Oddly enough, I would argue that the Lawful alignments are the ones who
*refuse* the argument that the end justifies the means; that such an
attitude is more suited to Chaotic characters.
Rationale: Lawful characters are the ones most often seen with a code of
honor, being concerned with following their teachings, requirements, and/or
behaviors of their organizations. They are the ones who would (IMHO) be most
likely to feel that a victory won through less-than-proper methods is a
false victory.
Just another opinion ....

I agree with Brandes, and will add that Neutral alignments (on the
good-evil axis) are the ends-justify-the-means charcters par excellance.
Good characters believe the means must be good as well as the ends. Evil
characters don't care about the means.
