Dangerous Awnshegh in Anuire

Gorgon not leave his fortress? Bloodtheft is harder that way. Besides,
remaining in one place is an invitation to attack. Magian, Raven, the White
Witch, Rhoubhe--I'm sure all would be happy to add Raesene's power to their
own.

I agree with this. In the live campaigns I play in the Gorgon isn't a
threat because they take play a distance away but I don't see why he
couldn't or wouldn't go out a fight with his armies. What a better
way to be able to bloodtheft other regents if he is in battle fighting
them.

I agree that the Gorgon most likely does leave his fortress for various reasons,
but most of his bloodthefts are commited within his own walls. In one
supplement, Blood Enemies I believe, it says that the Gorgon influces scions of
a particuar line to grow stronger (through underlings that would weaken the
scion's rivals, etc) then subtly encourages them to seek him out. I'd imagine
that he has dozens of such scions under his watch. He is a creature of subtly
and patience. He'd rather wait to kill a more blooded scion that spend months
chansing lesser ones.

As to the invitation to attack, I'd assume few would dare. The Gorgon is a
potent wizard (20th level, at least according to the cardsheet) and most likely
has tons of Guards and Wards type stuff all over his fortess (and even if he
isn't a mage, he would definitly have some underling do it for him). As for the
awnsheghlien attacking the Gorgon, it wouldn't be worth it. If I'm a tainted, 8
bloodline and I kill el-Hadid, I gain 2 points. If I kill the Gorgon I gain two
points (maybe a little more if he's the last of his line). The Gorgon is the
only awnsheghlien who definitly has a tighmaevril weapon or three.

Actually, Old Rocky is probably just afraid to leave his house unattended in
case some overeager young scion decides to go look for the Roele bloodline

I am surprised at this. If this is true, I missed it completely. My take
on the Gorgon has been that since he is practically ageless, he has developed
patience. That and the fact there are others out there who can actually
compete with him. So he is more than willing to move slowly, as his sense of
time is different than it was. At least, that's how I see it. I do not presume
to speak for anyone else.

I think I definitely read it somewhere. IIRC somewhere it says something
like that the gorgon is really hard to beat not only because he's just
touch all by himself, but also because of the fact that he next to never
leaves his keep so you'll have to brave all of his guardians and stuff
like that before you'll be able to brave him. And somewhere else it is
speculated that the reason that the gorgon never leaves his fortress is
that his power is containted there by the last Roele's sacrifice (indeed
the entire complex hums with power).
Well, lotsa blah anyways...
