Well, I use it as an opportunity to role-play. If the player can give a good
enough reason why his character should be overcome with Divine Wrath, then I
let it occur. I don't just include family members. Example: Walter is
playing High Prince Andrall de Raines (MAn, F10, Anduiras 61, major) who has
the Divine Wrath blood ability. If Walter describes his character as a
careful, calm decision-maker, it is very hard for him to go into battle rage
and I will let this occur only on certain occasions. Once I've seen the
Prince's personality, I'd be able to make a better judgment. Now, consider
Harry's character, Jonas Sidell (MAn, F9, Anduiras 46, minor) who also has
Divine Wrath. If Jonas is played as a hot-tempered, rash, and hostile warrior,
then his Divine Wrath will surface more often.

    Hope that helps.

Sounds like you are on the irght track. Divince wrath may overtake
someone when they are not necessarily facing overwhelming odds. The
Book of Magecraft sites an example of a young emporer of Roele's line
that witnessed his family massacred by the awnsheigh who is basically
the Gorgon's assasin and whose name I can't remember. He donned the
Emperial Crown of Annuire (really cool magic item) and his Divine Wrath
kicked in as he ordered the awnsheigh from the building. The mere site
of the horrible anger of the young emporer caused the awnsheigh to flee
his presence. So, it can be pretty cool.

    Divine Wrath

Divine wrath is one power that people seem hesistant to grant to their
players. One of my characters has had divine wrath since the campaign
began, but has not had the need to use it yet. I always thought of divine
wrath as being something that kicked in in times of extreme emotional
troubles. I think divine wrath would kick in if your character was
getting massascred in a fight, or any time that the wrath could save his
life. Your life doesn't need to be in danger for it to work however, like
the example of the person avenging his parent's murder or something.
Divine wrath of one of those sufficiently nasty powers that one needs a
    good reason to use it.

You are perfectly right on this Cymbelline. But what if his best friend
is cut down by that same orc or squeletton? With this power, a good
jugement is needed because if used too often, the player will become a
raging killing machine. Imagine a little a 5-level Paladin in full plate
plus shield, armed with a +3 sword and this power against a baatzu. Ouch
! So the DM should not allow the player to abuse of this power for the
    balance of the game.

    Divine Wrath

    Hi

    > Basically, I am after everyone's opinion on Divine Wrath. Maybe I

I think it depends alot on the type of game and the type of players
one has. The group I at present have does a severe amount role
Playing allowing me to bring in a good few twists. The first
occurence of divine rath is in general brought about by a rather
stressfull situation, this can be a build of tension over a period of
time and I personally let it loose in a situation that will teach the
PC to respect it. (My PC who has it loosed it against a fellow PC).

After that I do allow the PC to loose it in battle or when he is
angry but if he hasn't learned to be carefull with the power it he
soon will. I don't allow the divine wrath to stop until the PC is
completely exhausted. He will slaughter anything until it is over.
All are considered enimies including fellow players.

Now this system wouldn't work well if the players weren't very
interested in Role playing. It can actaully detroy a game. On the
other hand in circumstances where the Player love role playing it
creates a bith of a delema. Is it worth losing divine wrath.
Especially once a PC has killed or nearly killed several other PC's
some loved ones and so forth. By doing it thisway I have the player
normally deciding whether it is a good time to use it or not. I don't
really have to worry about it too much. So far other than the first
time the PC used it, has only been used once and that was when he
faced his fathers assasin. All the other time he has kept tight
    control over his divine wrath.

    Cheers
    Alvin
