The audax is an armored fish common in the waters around the Dragon Isles. Ranging from 10 to 15 feet in length, it is a predatory fish whose only natural enemies are the Vilbalang and human fishermen (though more than one fisherman has died in the jaws of an audax). Like the Vilbalang, they are rarely seen beyond the waters surrounding the Islands.
