Humanoid

Humanoids is a generic name given by Anuirean, Brecht and Khinasi scholars to the various non-human peoples that appear vaguely human in nature, are intelligent, and form a unique people.

All scholars from these tribes agree that beast-men, goblins, gnolls, orogs, ogres and giants are 'humanoids'. Certain scholars describe dwarves and elves as humanoids, with some Khinasi scholars going so far as to include the Vos in this list.

Most scholars accept that other human tribes are 'human', and also that the awnsheghlien while of human origin, are too unique to be described as humanoids - although the lesser awnsheghlien that they spawn may well form a humanoid race if numerous enough.

In general humanoid is used as a derogatory term, indicating that the race in question is brutish, uncivilized, short-lived, undisciplined, and probably not particularly intelligent. The accuracy of these stereotypes is rarely good. It is rumored that elves use 'goblinoid' in the same way as humans use the term 'humanoid' - but many of the sidhe include humans as goblinoids ...
