[top]Biography:
Culmine is the granddaughter of Humbert Dhoesone, the old baron's brother. Like her mother, and grandmother before her, the blood of Vorynn runs strong in her veins and she has a natural aptitude for things magical.
Her mother and grandmother were Rjurik; and her maternal ancestors fought well with Ruornil's contingent at the Battle of Mount Deismaar. The Vorynn bloodline had some ups and downs through the years but came to Clumine as a major bloodline. Her ancestors, including Brynja of the Blue Staff and Ólafur the Black are noted in the history of the Taelshore.
Clumine was always scrawny. Unlike her corpulent cousin, Daeric Dhoesone, she could pack it away and not gain a pound of fat. In fact, when she entered puberty, all the fat went to her chest leading the formerly ignored Clumine to become the subject of significant attention from the young men of Dhoesone (generally the more foolish and oafish fellows to Clumine's horror) - and the censure of many of its matrons who blamed Clumine for many of the problems her would-be suitors got into.
Unlike Daeric, who was given formal tutors until he showed talent, then was sent to the Imperial City of Anuire for formal study, Clumine, was apprenticed to her mother, Brunhilde Dhoesone. Brunhilde became Court Diviner for the Baron and she used her magic to help the Baron preserve his realm. When she was ready, Fhiele became the Baroness of Dhoesone, and Clumine's mother chose to retire in favor of her daughter. Brunhilde had Clumine invested with her domain and regency. Then her mother retired, living in a small cottage apart from the Barony's castle. Unlike the general divination that her mother was schooled in, Clumine learned the science of Astrology formally from a computer* that she knew. Clumine has spent time and effort collecting rocks and scouting areas key to scrying locations which humanoid raiding parties would employ in menacing the realm. However, more and more of late, the Baroness seeks news on the guilds and their motives.
However, she soon found herself competing with Daeric for the same sources of Mebhaighl. The two always had a fierce competitive streak. They typically clashed on everything in the past, and that hasn't changed. Amazingly, they didn't compete for the same realm spells as of late. Despite Ruornil's and Avani's faiths being allied; Clumine and Daeric attack each other frequently from the competing ideological positions of the Moon and Sun. Clumine's apprentice is Erin Romiene.
Clumine is the Countess of Romiene. Since Clumine's investiture with the title she has held a series of balls and other social events for the nobility and other 'folk of note', almost anyone who is anyone in Dhoesone has enjoyed Clumine's hospitality and she is well regarded as a result. Clumine is famous as the perfect host and is on friendly terms with nearly every woman of style and grace in the realm giving her enormous influence, and it is jokingly said a spy in every hall. Clumine's debutantes ball is the highlight of the Dhoesone social season and exclusion.

[top]* Behind the Curtain: Computers
A Computer, as referenced here, isn't a cipher machine or a calculating contraption invented by Charles Babbage[2]. In fact, a computer is a person who is skilled at making complex mathematical and astronomical computations. Just as accountants works with finances, a computer in the years before the 20th Century worked with sciences --- especially astronomy. Computers perform the brute math needed to publish star charts and to support the designs and theories of scientists and engineers.
In the Birthright Campaign, the archaic definition of the word "computer" is used to describe astrologers without spellcasting abilities. intending to invoke a sense of antiquity and otherworldliness. The term cosmographer is also appropriate.

The Barn Owl (Tyto alba) or, to distinguish it from relatives, Common Barn Owl, is an owl in the barn owl family Tytonidae. This is one of the two groups of owls, the other being the typical owls Strigidae. (Any member of the family Tytonidae is sometimes referred to as a Barn Owl.) They have an effortless wavering flight as they quarter pastures or similar hunting grounds.
Clumine had Hegwed for quite a long time. She gained the owl as a familiar after her mother taught her how to attune herself to an animal. Clumine chose Hegwed because the barn owl has that otherworldly quality about it.
Combat
Owls swoop quietly down onto prey, attacking with their powerful talons.

Owls have a +8 racial bonus on Listen checks and a +14 racial bonus on Move Silently checks. *They have a +8 racial bonus on Spot checks in areas of shadowy illumination.
