Equipment: Duraend has the resources of the entire College of Sorcery for his use, and therefore has any equipment deemed necessary by the DM, including magical items and spell components.
Description:
Balding, wispy gray hair and age spots mark the stooped figure of Duraend Soeran. Although his age has caught up to him, Duraend's mind is as sharp as ever. The third oldest member of the Council, he is a kind, eclectic old grandfather, quick to wheeze out advice on any number of topics. Duraend, ever the cheerful fellow, frequently interjects witty comments into the otherwise "stuffy" council meeting debates.
Duraend's official title within the Council is that of "Foreign Administrator" - he is primarily responsible for overseeing diplomatic ties and liasons with non-Anuirean wizards (like emissaries form the Temple of Rilni) who visit the College on occasion. A secondary role of this office was also overseeing Anuirean wizards who lived outside the City of Anuire; however, this aspect has largely become defunct.
However, since foreign wizards rarely come on official visits to the College of Sorcery, Duraend rarely needs to fill his official role. This suits him fine, since he is most happy doing research and tinkering within the College laboratories. So, on the occasion that an important foreign wizard does come along, he usually delegates his responsibilities onto his apprentice.
Duraend concerns himself mostly with magical research and development in the college, and is perhaps one of the most knowledgable academic wizards in Anuire. His area of speciality is medicine - thus he practices necromancy (although what he does is rather secret, most common folk believe the College forbids the study of all forms of necromancy). He is also the premier specialist on the Shadow World, and is primarily responsible for finding a solution to the black taint on the source holdings of the College.
