Mesire finds itself harrassed constantly by Black Spears raiders. Hundreds of Mesirean soldiers die on the northern marches every year, and there's no sign of relief in sight. The ambitious ajazada of Djafra to the east constitute another threat - they wish to see their standard flying along the banks of the Zhainge.

Sultan Yousef ibn Reghil el-Mesir rules most of Mesire, as the Red Kings of Aftane control a part of his city.
Karida bint Deila controls the police.
Adan el-Mesir is the nephew and high captain of the army.
Olaf Sturviksson is a troublemaker and a freebooter looking for adventure. His presence could be used to disrupt the Red Kings' control in Mesire.
