Dungeons and Dragons
Dungeons & Dragons or D&D is a fantasy roleplaying system that was created by TSR and is now the property of Wizards of the Coast (WotC).
Over the years it has been redesigned various times. The original D&D system was enlarged into Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (AD&D) which had a 1st Edition (AD&D I) and a 2nd Edition (AD&D II or D&D 2ed). At the start of the 21st century, a Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition (D&D 3ed) was published based on the D20 system. This was further improved and became Dungeons and Dragons Edition 3.5 (D&D 3.5). Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition (D&D 4ed) was published in 2008 . Dungeons and Dragons Next (aka 5th Edition or D&D 5ed) was published in July 2014 and is the current form of the game.
The main publications required to run a D&D game are the Player's Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide but the Monster Manual is generally also regarded as vital.
For further information on D&D, we suggest you visit the WotC site.
The Birthright Campaign Setting was originally written by TSR for D&D 2ed. Under the agreement between WotC and Birthright.net, the fansite has developed a new version of the Birthright rules and lore for D&D 3.5. The aim of the BRWiki is to be an additional means of publishing this new BRCS.
Wizards has not published any Birthright scenarios or rules for D&D 4ed or 5ed and in correspondance has indicated no plans to do so for any future editions. However, some fan-based work on 4eBRCS and 5eBRCS can be found on this wiki.
