Description:
Halmied is a hard-edged, no-nonsense old man, a natural leader and garners almost instant respect from those around him. He is also very practical, not inflexible like his superior Vaesil Ravensblood, and thus capably guides those under his magical tutelage. Halmied's neutral and practical opinions carry much weight among the less active members of the Council, and other council members typically side with his more tolerant views versus those of the excessively hot-headed Ravensblood or Gavinhorne; Halmied is usually the mediator between the shouting matches between these two council members.
His position is 'Head Instructor of the Undergraduates' within the College of Sorcery. Thus he is the person responsible for overseeing magical instruction of new students at the College. Under his instruction, students learn the basics of casting magic and researching ancient texts. Halmied demands much from his students; he also promises that those who make it through their first 2 years of instruction with him can be assured that they have a chance at surviving in this profession.
When not at work, Halmied can be found at his small estate within the City of Anuire, where he attends to the needs of his family and grandchildren. He is one of the few council members that actually garners respect from the general populace of the city, and he is well known to the inhabitants of the Imperial City; he once saved a noble couple in distress during a boating accident. He is usually the second choice of the Council to attend festivals, after Gavinthorne.
