Twilight realm

What this section, the Twilight realm, refers to is the most common experience of travelers to the Shadow World: the dark counterpart of Cerilia which exists in eternal twilight. Time, magic, and expected laws of nature all function differently. A dark presence haunts the Shadow World, and the parts which no longer resist are the Twilight realm.

The Twilight realm is the part of the Birthright setting which is the most claustrophobic, confusing, desperate, eerie, helpless, incongruous, isolated, revolting, and shocking. These are all aspects of horror. The landscape is alien, or disturbingly parallel, always subject to unpredictable change where the laws of nature, weather, magic, or even the cycle of day and night do not follow their normal patterns.
