Alara Riven is the daughter of Gaelen Riven, Count of Riveside. Her mother is Briende Huire.
Her father once accurately said, "for a man to get her attention, he'd need 4 hooves, a mane and a tail". Alara is a true daughter to her father and could ride before she could walk. Proud of her family, but increasingly horrified by her single status Alara is close to giving up hope that any match would meet her father's - and more importantly mother's ? impossibly high standards.
Despite her mother's antipathy to Erin Romiene, Alara gets on well with her half-sister, and is fascinated by Erin?s magic. Alara is scared of her uncle, Alaric Huire, and avoids him wherever possible - something in his eyes when he looks at her is simply predatory.
