Hruthvar Ansgarsson is the king of Svinik.

Hruthvar is still hale and hearty despite his advancing years Hruthvar has long given up boyish dreams of conquest and now wishes only to better the lives of his people and be remembered as someone who made a difference.

Hruthvar has only recently begun to truly take his role seriously, for the first ten years of his rule he mostly left his people to rule themselves, on the basis that they would probably know best what was good for them. A bout of illness led to introspection however and Hruthvar came to see that he was in fact abrogating his responsibilities as king by failing to show leadership. Hruthvar has set about building the strength of his people, and plans to ensure that while the 'true' traditions of the Rjurik are always kept and respected, the hide-bound avoidance of change at all costs attitude of many Rjurik is changed - it has in his view kept them backward, superstitious and cowering between Rjuvik and Goblin raids long enough...
